It's 2011. And with numerous bands looking for new ways to modernize and gussy up death metal, I couldn't be more depressed. Thankfully, Disma keeps things ugly and repulsive on Towards the Megalith. Featuring vocalist Craig PIllard of Incantation, growls on this LP are frigging blood-curdling. The vocals have a panoramic presence that doesn't occur on most death metal LPs--and I'm talking about new and old school. The music amplifies that effect, too, with lots of heavy, distorted basslines and crackling guitar riffs.
It's a mighty death metal album that relives the old days in a big, mountainous way.
