With some clear influences coming from guys like Flying Lotus and Amon Tobin, KUDO's new EP is a twelve-minute series of icy, ambient beatscapes. I like that he's always looking for a different way to morph the sound of the beat, too. He really keeps these tracks from stagnating. I also wanna mention that some of the atmospheres surrounding these tracks are fantastic, too. Arctic winds and spectral hums haunt these stone cold beats at every turn.
The dude behind KUDO is young, very young. But like any artist, his music thrives off of his personal emotions and life experiences. Being an only child in a Mormon town with parents divorcing for the second time, emotional outlets can be difficult to come by. Thankfully, this kid uses music.
