Boxcutter is the pseudonym of Barry Lynn, an electronic music producer from Northern Ireland. His new album The Dissolve came out in late April, and features some of the more interesting dubstep tracks to come out in a while. One of those tracks, "Zabriskie Disco," lives up to its name with a remarkably funky bass groove and some really out-there synth sounds that could have come straight out of the 70s. With this track, Boxcutter seems to have found a solid middle ground between two distinct styles of dubstep. It's bass music that's fun without being stupid, and arty without being cold and distant-sounding.
