Swedish Folk duo First Aid Kit will be dropping its next album in January 2012. The title: The Lion's Roar.
I gotta admit, it's been a while since I've been excitedly anticipating music of this style. Of course, I've got nothing against contemporary folk music. Y'all know I friggin' love that new Fleet Foxes album. I guess I don't find a lotta urgency in modern folk and acoustic music. Much of the time, I don't feel like I'm hearing a message or statement. Rather, I'm taking a break or something.
For me, that's not the case with First Aid Kit. To me, they deliver their songs like they really want me to hear what they're saying. They want me to take in every note and every passionate word. I mean, there's gotta be something here, right? They made Patti Smith cry!
"The Lion's Roar" is the song in the video above. Just watch, listen, and enjoy. That's all I can say at this point.
