Stream: The National- "Rylan" and "I Need My Girl" The National premiered two brand new tracks live on the CBC radio show Q in Toronto. These guys have always been a band that lyrical has been pretty powerful and relatable to all kinds of people. The tracks here as expected lyrically are top notch.
Musically they seem to have put more focus on guitar and keys this time around rather than the constant repetitive percussion on High Violet. Though, neither song really breaks new ground for the band, “I Need My Girl” still feels particularly impactful.
They are about as consistent as a band can get and if these songs speak for the rest of their new material then we are likely in store for another solid release from them.
