After a string of teaser videos whose musical content ran the gamut from hypnagogic pop to avant-folk to modern classical to even black metal, James Ferraro has announced a new album and shared its lead single, "Twilight Pretender." The album has yet to be detailed, and because James tends to keep a lot of irons in the fire, who knows if all the aforementioned styles will turn up on the same project. This particular track has a hazy adult contemporary thing going on and may appeal to those turned off by the atonal aspects of James' previous non-classical work, Skid Row. I really dig it - this sounds like Internet music in its purest form.
(But I lowkey want to hear more of that hypnagogic black metal stuff.)
