Supposedly the video is set in an alternate version of America, where Janelle Monae is The Beatles and Ed Sullivan is black. There are also zombies and fires and aliens. The song itself is an idiosyncratic piece of bouncy pop that thanks you for dancing til the end. Janelle's mad funk genius seems very much alive.
