The Strokes- Angles

Reviewsadmin17 Comments

On their latest LP, the Strokes want to head in a new direction, but they can't decide on one. So they use every track to obtain a different sound. Moments like "Under Cover of Darkness" embrace what's best about the band's past work, but "Two Kinds of Happiness" shoots for a sound most would probably associate with the 80s. Though it's kinda all over the place, most of the songs here are quite good. Maybe the band is exploring new territory since this is the first album after their hiatus.

As long as they're writing good tunes, I'll be listening.

New Strokes Video / Track

The Strokes have dropped a new video for "Under Cover of Darkness," which I audio review'd the day it dropped. The band has also released a new song, "You're So Right," to keep the saliva coming for their forthcoming album, Angles. Check the, uh, cover:

"You're So Right" reminds me of frontman Julian Casablancas' recent solo album with its rigid electronic foundation, but the songwriting is still pretty decent. I'm loving the burst of guitar distortion that finishes the song off, and the recurring addition of background vocals to the band's repertoire. They really made "Under Cover" a treat, and they're turning this song into something fun to listen to as well. Stream the track below:
