BROCKHAMPTON - "Dirt"

New Trackstheneedledrop2 Comments

BROCKHAMPTON is an abstract hip hop supergroup from Texas, comprised of Kevin Abstract, JOBA, Ameer Vann, Matt Champion, Dom McLennon, Rodney Tenor, and Merlyn Wood. Last week, they dropped an intriguing single on Fool's Gold called "Dirt," which you can check out above. I dig the strangeness and think these guys have a ton of potential.

DaVinci & Sweet Valley - "I Got That Line"

Remember "Sweet Valley"? You know, the brotherly production duo consisting of Nathan and Kynan Williams. You probably already know Nathan from Wavves. Well, they've recently teamed up with Bay Area rapper DaVinci for a new project titled Ghetto Cuisine, which is currently downloadable via Fool's Gold Records.

"I Got That Line" is the lead single off of the project, and I'm digging the color video and obvious Beastie Boys reference attached to this thing. While I'm more enamored with the instrumental than I am the MC, it's still worth checking out. Enjoy!

Danny Brown - "Dip"

Check out the Rollo Jackson-directed music video for Danny Brown's new song "Dip." Like the RUFFMERCY-helmed video for "ODB," this new video is a twisted and druggy onslaught of quick cuts, zany effects, and colorful scrawling, all of which wonderfully complement the MC's brashness, as well as the banger of an instrumental whose drop sounds a bit like "Harlem Shake." Also, this.

"Dip" will be featured on Old, due out October 8 via Fool's Gold.

Danny Brown - "ODB"

At long last, Danny Brown's Old has been given an official release date, and now we also have a new track and video to further whet our appetites. "ODB"'s instrumental is just as delightfully frantic and zany as Danny Brown's signature flow, and the video it's accompanied by is no less madcap. Enjoy!

Old is due out September 30 via Fool's Gold. A reminder of how great his 2011 effort XXX was:

Portugal. The Man - "Evil Friends (Jake One Remix)" feat. Danny Brown

Portugal. The Man have enlisted hip hop producer Jake One to helm a remix of their latest LP's title track, "Evil Friends." Danny Brown jumps aboard, delivering a fast, hard-hitting, and surprisingly leery verse about the second-hander mindset running rampant around him. Give it a listen above!

Portugal. The Man's Evil Friends is out now via Atlantic Records, and it was recently announced that Danny Brown's much anticipated Old will officially be released on September 30 via Fool's Gold Records.
