After all these years, Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica still stands as one of rock's most challenging and boundary-pushing albums.

Brain Tentacles -"The Sadist"
New TracksCommentJudging from this track, Brain Tentacles are about to put out the most insane avant-garde jazz-metal album you'll hear in all of 2016. The trio's self-titled debut will be released September 30 via Relapse.
Dead Neanderthals - Prime
New TracksCommentGet ready for the most pummeling 40 minutes of music in 2014.
Prime is the latest release from Holland jazz trio Dead Neanderthals, and the band pulls absolutely no punches on their album posted above, which is just one immense free jazz track. It's a wild and overwhelming listen, and not for the faint of heart. Enjoy!
Flying Lotus - "Ready Err Not" [NSFW]
VideosCommenthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XDhz5kanYk First off, be sure to heed that NSFW label up there: this will almost certainly be the most disturbing music video you'll see all year.
For You're Dead! cut "Ready Err Not," Flying Lotus enlisted the talents of Salad Fingers creator David Firth to lend the track a freakish and downright perverted set of visuals. Even if you're familiar with Firth's surreally horrific style, you may find the content of the video shocking, as he arguably takes things to a new, gruesome level. But it's ultimately a match made in heaven, Firth's vision matching the grisly promotional art of master body horror depicter Shintaro Kago. I'm of the opinion these sorts of images better suit the album than Hiro Murai's comparatively tame approach to "Never Catch Me" earlier last month, but certainly both takes are mostly effective, albeit in very different ways. Watch Firth's above and revel in the messed-upness!
You're Dead! is out now via Warp and it's a glorious free-jazz nightmare! Review below:

The Daniel Rosenboom Quintet - Fire Keeper
New TracksCommentDigging on some fiery jazz rock from this new Daniel Rosenboom Quintet album, Fire Keeper. The kinetic energy in the performances on this thing is m-a-s-s-i-v-e. The production is a little flat at times, but the performances are just stellar throughout.
Xiu Xiu - "You'd Be So Nice" & "Just Say I Love Him"
VideosCommentWith September's "Don't smoke in bed," Xiu Xiu gave us our first glimpse at its upcoming Graveface Records debut Nina, a collection of 11 Nina Simone covers done in the style of free jazz. Since then, the band has shared two more tracks from the project, "Just Say I Love Him" and "You'd Be So Nice." The former, which actually has a discernible, catchy groove, can be streamed via the Soundcloud widget below; and the latter, the noisiest offering so far, is accompanied by a classy minimalist music video that can be watched above. Enjoy!
Nina is slated for release December 3.
Tony Falco & Josh Sinton- Internal Combustion
New TracksCommentA series of free jazz odysseys on this new collection of tracks from percussionist Tony Falco and saxophonist Josh Sinton. While Falco and Sinton don't create the most relentless or chaotic improvisations, they do get quite noisy and freakish. Stream it via the widget above, or grab it for five bones on Bandcamp.
Niechęć- Śmierć w miękkim futerku
New TracksCommentPolish alternative jazz outfit Niechęć has its new album streaming via the widget above, and it 's a pretty nice blend of improvisation, aggression, and a driving rock sensibility. Though I wish the recording felt a bit more, well, organic and natural, these guys do have an undeniable chemistry to their playing that makes following the progression of this album pretty fun.
