A few days ago, the Hardvapour Resistance Front put out the White Death EP by a producer under the alias Pure Violence, and now TND gets to do the honors of premiering the visual component for the release's four tracks. As is the case for most H.V.R.F. artists, Pure Violence's identity is a secret; I've only been told he's a Dream Catalogue heavyweight. At any rate, with a central theme of "cultural pornography," the EP's got the over-the-top imagery and social commentary that we've enjoyed from the label's past material - especially that Wikileaks vs. DNC compilation mentioned in the previous It Came From Bandcamp. You can watch a playlist of the videos above, or if the sounds are aesthetic enough for you, you can just stream the tracks below.
In the spirit of Halloween, the Hard Vapour Resistance Front has organized this compilation of the spookiest rave music you'll hear all year. Comprised of almost 50 tracks and exceeding two and a half hours, this thing's certainly not for the faint of heart and is appropriate background music for only the intensest of Halloween parties.
Ostensibly based out of Ukrainian ghost town Pripyat, the H.V.R.F. (Hard Vapour Resistance Front) has already amassed a catalog of 24 releases in just under a month of its formation. It's this high level of productivity that will inevitably lead to the East conquering us shiftless Westerners, so TND is taking the opportunity to get on the good side of the hardvapour regime of our near-future by premiering this sampler containing music from all the H.V.R.F.'s releases to date.
Now, if you don't know what hardvapour is, it's basically vaporwave for people who aren't pussies. But in all seriousness, this is a varied batch of tracks, meshing elements of dark ambient, gabber, and industrial techno music. If you dig those sounds, give this thing a shot.
HKE, founder of Dream Catalogue and f.k.a. Hong Kong Express, is bringing the hardvapour to Olde English Spelling Bee! OMNIA is the London producer's proper debut album under his new handle and marks the beginning of a new musical direction; here's a bit of background he has provided us:
Omnia is the beginning of my new musical direction, the prologue to the projekt of tomorrow, the first full length album as HKE. Work first started on it around summer of 2015 and culminated in January 2016. It was inspired by a series of dreams, nightmares and sleep paralysis hallucinations I had within about two weeks of each other. Further inspiration from the rumination on existence and the human experience in our present reality and realities beyond our current contemplation as we progress past old ideals and advance to the next stage of evolution, inching ever closer to the idea of God, beyond the insanity of religious tradition and nihilistic emptiness, to a harmonic understanding between scientific exploration and spiritual enlightenment, a future dream reality.
Musically it takes influence from all over the map, with Ash Koosha, OPN, Arca, wosX and some elements from my earlier work as Hong Kong Express.
We're happy to be premiering the track "Omni" above ahead of the album's February 4 release. If you dig what you hear, head over to the preorder page to check out the two opening tracks. And if you haven't heard it yet, do check out the first episode of our rebooted podcast below. At the 38 minute mark, HKE comes on to talk about his vaporwave empire. Enjoy!
