On its latest album, California band Loma Prieta mixes its screamo roots with some pretty extreme sounds.

New Tracks3 CommentsHere's a track off the latest album from SanFran screamo and hardcore outfit Loma Prieta. Their new album is titled I.V., and it's on Deathwish.
On "Fly By Night" Loma proves itself to be just as harsh and aggressive as any other band in this style. The vocals and guitars are extremely loud and kind of brittle in texture. It's something I probably wouldn't be into if the drums didn't have so much punch to them. The bass has a really grinding quality to it as well.
Despite all this "ugly," the band makes room for a nice backdrop of harmonious beauty toward the end of this song, changing up the chord progression into something much more harmonious.
