In Solitude - "A Buried Sun"

New TrackstheneedledropComment

Last month, Swedish metal outfit In Solitude put out its third studio album Sister, its most adventurous effort thus far. Case in point: The LP's third track, "A Buried Sun;" a seven-minute-long piece of that exhibits band's classic metal throwback sound, but with a welcome infusion of goth rock elements. Some of Hornper's vocals actually smack of Michael Gira, and the song closes with almost a minute of solely vibraphone. With these elements alongside the classic metal riffs and twangy solos, In Solitude's got an interesting thing going on. Stream it above and rock out!

Sister is out now via Metal Blade Records.

A new track from Swedish metal outfit In Solitude, whose third album dropped on Metal Blade this past May. The LP's title is The World. The Flesh. The Devil..

The sound here is one that's been a metal mainstay for decades, going back to the days of King Diamond and Iron Maiden. Maybe the vocals are little overbearing, but the songs are presented with a lot of sincerity. It's definitely a throwback, but I don't see any reason to bring authenticity into question. The riffs are too fiery to do that.
