Literature- "Tie Dye (Your Life)"

New TracksadminComment

Jangly, lo-fi, and energetic indie pop purists Literature have a new single out for the song "Tie Dye (Your Life)," and it's a worthy follow up to the very likable album the band dropped earlier this year. Even though the sound of this new song is a little rough, the playing isn't. The syncopated drums and guitar riffs that pop in around the 30-second mark, and the ascending vocal melody on the hook are both welcome surprises.

Look for the physical embodiment of this 7" on January 1st.

Literature is a pop rock group whose sound has a lotta jangle and a little lo-fi. It's a familiar angle, but the songwriting is too catchy for me to ignore, reminding me a lot of groups like Smith Westerns.

While most tracks on this Literature LP have a happy-go-lucky vibe, they never stray too far from their rough and sorta rowdy rock attitude, keeping these tracks from getting too sweet.

The band is currently allowing a digital download of this LP for whatever price you'd like. Grab the album here.

Literature- "Cincinatti"

OK, so here's how I found out about this band:

Not a bad introduction at all to this group: Literature. These guys are messy. Yeah, the three tracks on this single are pretty rough around the edges, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. In this case, it makes the songs a little edgier or even dangerous-er. It's an aesthetic a lot of bands shoot for, but many forget that writing a catchy song is an important part of the equation as well.

Thankfully, "Cincinatti" has that. Not only that, but a hilarious hook about being given a bad check. Enjoy the strong via a stream above, and download the whole 7" on the band's Bandcamp page.
