Liv.e - Girl in the Half Pearl
ReviewsCommentMost of the songs on Liv.e's sophomore album are half-baked, but elevated a bit by a myriad of interesting production choices.
MGMT - 11•11•11
ReviewsCommentMaybe you had to be there.
Beyoncé - HOMECOMING: The Live Album
ReviewsCommentBeyoncé pulls out all the stops on HOMECOMING, a live album of epic proportions.
LCD Soundsystem - Electric Lady Sessions
ReviewsCommentWhile much of your enjoyment of Electric Lady Sessions will depend on your enjoyment of American Dream, that material does benefit from the more in-the-moment sound here.
Sun Kil Moon with Magik*Magik Orchestra - "Astronomy"
New TracksCommentMark Kozelek is currently on tour promoting his slew of 2017 releases, and he has made quite an interesting choice in backing band with the Magik*Magik Orchestra. It's really impressive how well the group has adapted much of this new material into chamber arrangements. Thankfully, last month's performance in Chicago was documented and is being released in January as a freebie to go along with any orders through Mark's site. That probably means another Sun Kil Moon album isn't too far off, either. Not that we needed a hint.
Hear the rendition of With Ben Boye and Jim White cut "Astronomy" above. I'd say it's got both studio versions beat.
Denzel Curry - "Ultimate" (BBNG Sessions)
New TracksCommentDenzel Curry and BADBADNOTGOOD each embark upon one of their most ambitious musical undertakings by reinventing banger-of-the-decade contender "Ultimate" with live instrumentation. I'm more surprised by the trippy video than I am the fact they pull it off. Feels like I dropped acid...or edited a thatistheplan video.
Denzel and BBNG also produced a live version of Imperial cut "Sick & Tired" during this session, which you can check out here.
A Tribe Called Quest - "We the People...."
New Tracks5 CommentsOff We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service, the final album by veteran hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest, out now via Epic. Definitely check out their performance of the track on last night's episode of Saturday Night Live if you've yet to:
