LIST WEEK CONTINUES! This is a list of my 50 favorite singles this year. There have been a lot of fantastic songs to celebrate, and these are what I found to be the most interesting, entertaining, and replay-worthy.

Synth pop outfit Future islands drops their most focused record yet, delivering one catchy, dramatically sung tune after another.

Future Islands - "A Dream of You and Me"

This passionate, smooth little piece of indie rock comes courtesy of Future Islands. Their new single "A Dream of You and Me" has a really appealing sensitivity to it, especially in the lead vocal's just-on-the-brink-of-quavering sincerity. The bright guitar, bass, and keyboard tones add a playful element to the proceedings, everything combining to make an emotive, catchy track. It's accompanied by some slightly abstract images that move along in what looks like stop-motion.

Future Islands' new record Singles is out March 25 via 4AD.

Future Islands - "Seasons (Waiting On You)"

Art pop three-piece Future Islands is preparing to drop a new album titled Singles in March, and here we have the video for Singles' first single, "Waiting on You (Seasons Change)." The visuals seem as though they'd be better suited to a piece of americana, but strangely, they do also fit the band's dewy new wave sound. Also, just such a phenomenal song - as affecting as it is infectious. Enjoy!

Eminem - "Rap God" (w/"Berzerk")

Eminem's major singles leading up to the release of the sequel to the Marshall Mathers LP have underwhelmed me a bit, honestly.

Vampire Weekend - "Diane Young" / "Step"

Vampire Weekend drops two new singles from the band's forthcoming LP, Modern Vampires Of The City, which is looking at a release on the first week of May right now.

Both tracks have their strong points and personalities. "Diane Young" is incredibly lively, and is loaded with strange vocal effects, and "Step" is a truly lovely ballad. I like that the band is progressing all of the refined pop elements they brought into play on Contra, and keeping them interesting. Enjoy!
