A group of brief reviews I wished I had the time to touch down on in a full video this past month. Sorry I didn't get to them in a formal review, but I'm just gonna talk about them all in brief here. While I didn't dig a lot of these releases, I hope you. Look into whatever descriptions most interest you. Here's the list of albums addressed in the video:

The Men - "Another Night"

We recently mentioned the New York band The Men back when they dropped the song "Pearly Gates." It was the first song the increasingly versatile group released from their forthcoming album, Tomorrow's Hits. "Another Night" marks the release of another track from this forthcoming LP, and it shows the band being completely unafraid to capture that old time rock 'n' roll vibe. There are some feel-good horns wailing in the background, and that guitar riff has more miles on it than a '56 Buick. Enjoy!

The Men - "Pearly Gates"

If you can expect anything from New York's The Men, it's that you'll never know what to expect from them.

The band's discography thus far has been quite the trip, showing no limits in their ability to imitate the sounds of noise rock, post-hardcore, pop rock, and even country. In fact, their foray into that last genre made for my least favorite Men album thus far. That influence rings true in this new track of theirs as well, "Pearly Gates"; however, I think this fiery backwoods rock number is paying off big-time. It's like what would have happened if the punk movement had somehow preceded Southern, horn-backed bar rock. There's loads of guitar slingin', piano bangin', and horn squealin' to be had here. Pay close attention, and try not to miss a single second of the action!

The Men - "Turn Your Color"

Next month, The Men will release an all-acoustic 5-song EP actually recorded around a campfire while the band was holed up in a house in upstate New York. The project is aptly titled Campfire Songs and will feature re-imagined versions of New Moon-era tracks "I Saw Her Face," "The Seeds," and "Water Babies," as well as two new songs, "Turn Your Color" and "Patience;" the former of which can be streamed above. Enjoy the adeptly-crafted ambiance!

Campfire Songs is due out October 15 via Sacred Bones. Below, check out the review for their latest LP, the determinedly rustic New Moon, released earlier this year:

The Men - "Electric"

Yes, I was looking forward to this! I don't know what it is about the Men, but they must have some serious band chemistry going on, because they're pumping out worthwhile rock records like it's nobody's business. "Electric" is the first song to drop from the band's next album, New Moon, and it's got the kind of energy that'll make ya wanna throw your fists up and thank the lord for rock 'n' roll.

Look for this new Men album on March 5th via Sacred Bones.
