Wavves - "All Star Goth"

New TrackstheneedledropComment

Wavves frontman Nathan Williams is re-releasing the band's self-titled debut for Record Store Day in honor of the album’s 10th anniversary. This previously unreleased track, “All Star Goth,” will be included on the reissue.

“All Star Goth” would be among the noisiest tracks on the exceptionally noisy Wavves. The heavily distorted guitars create a wall of sound that is suspended underneath echoing vocal harmonies. The song sounds like a combination of Car Seat Headrest’s Twin Fantasy (which it predates by 3 years) and the Beach Boys-esque vocals of Panda Bear’s "Comfy in Nautica."

The Wavves re-release will be available tomorrow on colored vinyl.

Coming off a collaboration with Ohio noise rock act Cloud Nothings, Wavves is keen to get its fifth album (reportedly titled v) out soon. Today, frontman Nathan Williams released a cut from it called "Way Too Much," which you can find above. In related news, Williams continues beefing with his label Warner Bros, which attempted to get this track pulled from Soundcloud and did not approve of his original, minimalist version of v's album art:

Wavves x Cloud Nothings - No Life for Me

Here's a collaborative full-length from Nathan Williams (Wavves), the vanguard of Cali surf punk, and post-hardcore darling Dylan Baldi, of Ohio's Cloud Nothings. The album was produced by Williams and his brother Joel (who comprise the instrumental hip hop duo Sweet Valley) and is out via his Ghost Ramp imprint.

DaVinci & Sweet Valley - "I Got That Line"

Remember "Sweet Valley"? You know, the brotherly production duo consisting of Nathan and Kynan Williams. You probably already know Nathan from Wavves. Well, they've recently teamed up with Bay Area rapper DaVinci for a new project titled Ghetto Cuisine, which is currently downloadable via Fool's Gold Records.

"I Got That Line" is the lead single off of the project, and I'm digging the color video and obvious Beastie Boys reference attached to this thing. While I'm more enamored with the instrumental than I am the MC, it's still worth checking out. Enjoy!

Sweet Valley - So Serene

So Serene is the off-the-wall new tape from Wavves' Nathan Williams and his brother Kynan. See that cover art of Batman and Robin melting? That pretty much sums it up. A 27-minute-long piece that goes through a multitude of wonky, chip-tune-inspired phases. Thankfully, the brothers have really stepped up their production game since Sweet Valley's last outing.

So Serene is a crazy journey, and one worth taking for the sampling alone. I mean, the guys sample Larry David and Space Ghost Coast to Coast...TAKE MY MONEY NOW! Oh right, it's a free download. Grab it here via the duo's Bandcamp.
