While Angel Guts: Red Classroom might be Xiu Xiu's most freakish record, I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed by some of the purely freakish tracks here.

New TracksCommentSome of you might have heard that the California synth pop, art rock, post-punk, experimental everything outfit Xiu Xiu has a Nina Simone covers album coming out on December 3rd. Well, that's true, but this isn't the only thing the band has had up their sleeve!
In February of 2014, the band will be dropping a new full-length of original material, and "Stupid In the Dark" is one of the many cuts to be featured on it, and it's a killer track. The song starts with these tense, minimal synths and beats that remind me of a Suicide track or two. Once the chorus kicks in, though--DAMN--there's a rush of harmony as Jamie Stewart's trademark vocals howl into night and bring words like "passion" new meaning. Enjoy!
