Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - "Robes" ft. Earl Sweatshirt & Domo Genesis

New TrackstheneedledropComment

You might've heard that Freddie Gibbs and Madlib have a new collaborative LP coming out called Piñata. This match-up alone is enough to leave one abuzz with excitement, but the features list, including Joey Bada$$, Ab-Soul, Danny Brown, and many others; is simply overkill. Above, you can check out the new single, "Robes," featuring smooth verses from Earl Sweatshirt and Domo Genesis atop an expectedly soulful instrumental from Madlib. Also, the slick lead single "Deeper" can be streamed here.

Piñata is due out March 18 via Madlib's Invazion label. Check out the review of his last solo effort Yessir Whatever below:

Earl Sweatshirt - "Burgundy"

With the release of Doris only a couple of weeks away, Earl Sweatshirt is keeping the hype train going full speed ahead with the Pharrell-produced "Burgundy." The two-minute-long anxiety-ridden track manages to come off as remarkably triumphant thanks to its substantial, soaring, and jazzy instrumental. Check it out above!

Doris is due out on August 20 via Columbia Records.

Earl Sweatshirt - "Hive"

Earl Sweatshirt has just shared a new song and video for his upcoming debut album, Doris.

"Hive" features guest spots from Vince Staples and Casey Veggies, and boasts a murky, spacious beat courtesy of fellow Odd Future affiliate, Matt Martians, and Earl himself. If the production isn't enough to convey Earl's continued fascination with the dark and macabre, then the Hiro Murai-directed music video is sure to clear up any uncertainties. Enjoy!

Doris is due out August 20th via Columbia Records.

Bad Bad Not Good's Debut EP

Last month, I talked up some live videos from Canada's Bad Bad Not Good, which is a young jazz trio of sorts.

I'd call them "jazz fusion," but that hardly addresses what they're fusing together. Rather than welding jazz with some rock or funk, BBNG sounds like they pick up a lot more from the world of hip hop--especially considering how much of this EP is build of Odd Future beat medleys.

Stream the entire EP above, and download it for free as well on the trio's Bandcamp.

Earl Sweatshirt is a West Coast rapper, and a member of the young artist collective Odd Future.

Despite being just sixteen, Earl has a really mature flow and some pretty witty lyrics. Sure, he's got a writer's obsession with murder and sex, but what dude his age doesn't? The beat on this track is amazing as well. So much bass! As if being young wasn't enough, here's another kicker: His new album is free. Download it here, and listen to a track below.
