Nine Inch Nails - "Find My Way" (Oneohtrix Point Never Remix)

New TrackstheneedledropComment

Oneohtrix Point Never has made his remix of Nine Inch Nails' "Find My Way" available to stream on his Soundcloud page. His take on the track is incredibly spacious and multi-phased, abruptly alternating between droning organ textures and skittering synth sequences. Judging also from past singles, "Problem Areas" and "Zebra,"  this decidedly formless esthetic seems to be the one OPN is embracing for his upcoming Warp Records debut, R Plus Seven, due out September 30.

OPN's remix can be found on the deluxe edition of Hesitation Marks, out now via Columbia. Check out the review below:

Oneohtrix Point Never - "Zebra"

"Zebra," the new track from Oneohtrix Point Never, is a formless and sprawling seven-minute-long piece whose only through-line is its incredibly choppy foundational loops. However, the choppy, jarring foundation is aptly accented by ethereal, occasionally jazzy touches throughout. The result is the type of sonic juxtaposition OPN has struck many times in his work before, but the contrast has never been quite as extreme as it is here. Check it out above!

"Zebra" will appear on OPN's upcoming Warp Records debut, R Plus Seven, due out October 1. Here's hoping it will satisfy as much as 2011's Replica did:

Oneohtrix Point Never - "Problem Areas"

Oneohtrix Point Never has shared another track from his upcoming Warp Records debut R Plus Seven. The serene and pristine "Problem Areas" is accompanied by a Salvador Dalí-esque music video comprised of surreal, CGI household items. Choice imagery includes an alarm clock bursting with gummy worms and a model ship in a Gatorade bottle.

R Plus Seven will be released on September 30th via Warp Records.

The tracks of experimental music producer Daniel Lopatin, a.k.a. Oneohtrix Point Never-, are difficult enough to make heads or tails of on their own--much less in the form of a three-minute excerpt accompanied by incredibly abstract visuals.

Right now, Lopatin's next album, R Plus Seven, is looking at an Oct. 1st release date on Warp Records, and the track "Still Life" is projecting this thing to be even more difficult than it's sample-heavy predecessor. Check a review for that album below, and enjoy the excerpt!

Tim Hecker & Daniel Lopatin- "Uptown Psychedelia"

Tim Hecker and Daniel Lopatin (a.k.a. Oneohtrix Point Never) have come together in what may be the most promising electronic collaboration of the latter year. Their forthcoming LP titled Instrumental Tourist is to be expected on November 20th as a part of Software record’s SSTUDIO series. An intriguing venture aimed at expanding the catalogue of a new label, Software invites the collaboration of electronic artists in search of works of quality and unique vision.

The recent release "Uptown Psychedelia" does just that in its avant-garde approach to a modern formula and sound palette that seamlessly blends organic 'Instruments of the World' with synthetic conceptions of otherworldly resonances. The use of drones and trance inducing stereo panning creates a very sublime and captivating aesthetic. Recorded through improvisation and with little preparation in advance, Hecker and Lopatin’s work can be fantasized as free-jazz predecessors of the electronic age.

Oneohtrix Point Never- "I Only Have Eyes for You" (Loved)

Oneohtrix Point Never, a.k.a. Dan Lopatin, has been making a bit of a splash recently. Here, he has covered the Harry Warren & Al Dubin track from 1934 “I Only Have Eyes For You.” This is an ethereal take on the track, with spliced vocals and delicate soundwaves being the focus of this cover. It's a sleepy take on the track, and does a great job of mashing the past with the present. Oneohtrix Point Never is on a roll, and this cover will do nothing to disuade that.
