West Coast screamo outfit Touché Amoré's third record is easily the most ambitious in their discography so far, featuring some incredibly dynamic and melodic punk guitars and lyrics that dive into the depths of mortality, legacy, and the band itself.
TOUCHE AMORE
Touché Amoré - "Just Exist"
New Tracks1 CommentIs Survived By will be the third full-length LP from California's Touché Amoré, and it's currently looking at a September 24th release date on Deathwish.
"Just Exist" is the first track to drop from the forthcoming album, and it features all of the band's best qualities: tight instrumentation, muscular drumming, harmonious guitar playing, and poetic lyrics delivered with the utmost intensely. Screamo is alive and well.

Stream This Pianos Become the Teeth / Touché Amoré Split
New TracksCommentAs I mentioned yesterday, Pianos Become the Teeth and Touché Amoré have a new split out, and I'm especially impressed by the Pianos side. The track they dropped on this thing, "Hiding," has way more clarity, passion, and songwriting ability than I remember on the band's last album. The track's just got a strong element of balladry to it that sounds great.
Of course, the boys in Touché sound great. "Gravity, Metaphorically" plows through its four-minute run time with some blast beats, desperate slowdowns, and an attention-demanding opener.
Drug Church- "Mohawk" (feat. Jeremy Bolm of Touche Amore)
New TracksCommentStream: Drug Church- "Mohawk" (feat. Jeremy Bolm) Drug Church is a side project of Patrick Kindlon, frontman for the New York-based post-hardcore group Self Defense Family, formerly known as End of a Year. Kindlon's output with Self Defense has gotten increasingly more cerebral and arty since the name change, but the recently christened Drug Church seems to be a regression back to his punk rock roots. With chugging guitars and a classic two-step beat, the band's new track "Mohawk" is a straight up hardcore rager. Kindlon's tuneless vocals actually sound fairly focused here, as if imbued with an immediate, raw energy not displayed on the new Self Defense material.
"Mohawk" also features a brief but substantial guest vocal spot from Jeremy Bolm of Touché Amoré, whose airy yelp contrasts nicely with Kindlon's bark.
This track will appear on Drug Church's debut 7", which will be out July 9th on No Sleep Records. You can also check out another track from the 7", a similarly visceral cut called "Northway", over at Punknews.
Touche Amore- Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me
Reviews1 CommentOn the band's sophomore album, Touche Amore generates some of the most empowering emotional hardcore I've heard in years. Yeah, the lyrics do make mountains out of emotional molehills, but the punk spirit powering the music is the same that made classics in this genre so, well, enjoyable.
