John Talabot- "Lamento"

Back in April, I blogged a track from Barcelona electronica producer John Talabot, which featured Glasser on vocals. The track comes off a new 12'' EP with four tracks on it. The thing came out in May, but the Young Turks release basically slipped my mind.

But I came across a reminder on Quit Mumbling just today with another track from the EP, "Lamento."

On this track, John loops a great groove and manipulates a vocal sample to the point where it's a drone, it's a chant, and, oh, it's a drone again. Listen to the song above, and hear one more track from the EP here. If you dig the songs, pick that 12'' up!

John Talabot- "Families" Feat. Glasser

John Talabot is a Barcelona DJ with a taste for chill and a history of Mediterranean electronica remixes--think dance music suited for a poolside bar on the Cote d-Azur. Anyway, his new EP, Families, is slated for May 9 on Young Turks. Here’s the title track, a collaboration with Glasser, a.k.a. Cameron Mersbow.

Mersbow’s singing compliments the track perfectly, proving she can wax Euro-hip with the best of techno chanteuses. Somehow, this track melds Talabot’s laid-back, Ibiza-esque house with Mersbow’s cool angelic vocals to create a true "Trans-Europe Express" of electronica. It's a blissful ride between frantic techno and smooth downtempo.
