Apathy- "Stop What Ya Doin" ft. Celph Titled

VideosadminComment

A new video from Apathy's new album, Honkey Kong. Gave that thing a positive review recently.

The video features fellow MC Celph Title, and even DJ Premiere appears to prove the production credit on this track is real.

As far as the story and content goes, this video is friggin hilarious. From spiking the punch at a kid's birthday party to shoving a dude on crutches, the havok Apathy and Celph wreak keeps me glued to this vid from beginning to end.

It actually reminds me of Jay Reatard's last video, but with the roles reversed.

Connecticut rapper Apathy brings a modern feel to the classic sounds of East Coast hip hop on his latest album, Honkey Kong. Though this LP doesn't experiment or step over any major boundaries, it does come with a lot of consistency, quotable lyricism, and solid beats. Despite a few forgettable beats and corny hooks, the brighter spots on this LP are great enough to outshine the darker ones.

Apathy- "Peace Connecticut" (Prod. Da Beatminerz)

I've been living in Connecticut all my life, and I've always wondered about this state's lack of pride--especially among people my age. I'll admit that I'm not always in love with where I'm living. It would be nice to be somewhere less expensive, corrupt, and tedious, but Connecticut isn't bad at the end of the day.

Apathy lets his CT love show on the new video to come from his third LP, Honkey Kong. And the love has got to be true, because his picks up the state's quirks so well with his lyrics. He's clearly been raised here, but has left enough times to understand what really separates this place from others.

The lyrics paint Connecticut as a land of cold weather, "grinders," underrated music, and Good Ole Tom. Even Chris Webby gets a shoutout. I didn't know people hopped on the Metro-North with kilos, though. I'll have to trust Apathy on that one.

It would have been nice to hear a crack at Linda "OH YEAH" McMahon, but this song is great as is. Maybe I'm CT-biased, but come visit me in the Waterbury area and tell me that.

On August 23rd, Connecticut MC Apathy will be dropping his latest album, Honkey Kong. "Check to Check," which gets some production credits from Evidence--yeah, from Dilated Peoples--is all about being broke as a joke. Seems Apathy is pretty open about his money problems whether they're because of overspending or how difficult it is to make money creating music these days.

Here's the cover. Well, what did you expect from an album titled "Honkey Kong"?
