Mariam The Believer - "To Conquer Pain With Love"

The beloved Mariam The Believer drops a simple, somber organ ballad with the track "To Conquer Pain With Love," which is set for release on a forthcoming EP titled The Wind. Not only was this track build of first takes, but it seems all the tracks on this EP will be organ ballads. The release date is June 18th, and I'm told we can expect more experimental EPs from Mariam in the future. Enjoy!

Mariam The Believer - "Above the World"

Mariam The Believer's Blood Donation was definitely one of 2013's greatest albums. It was also one of the year's most mystifying, perhaps the greatest question it left us with being, "How do I dance to this?" Well, fret over this no more, for the answer is revealed in this new video for highlight "Above the World." You probably could have guessed it entails going out to the woods (on a foggy day, naturally), convulsing wildly, and climbing trees, but whatever; it's killer all the same. Watch above and enjoy!

Mariam The Believer - "Invisible Giving"

Swedish singer-songwriter Mariam the Believer has shared the music video for Blood Donation cut "Invisible Giving." The video certainly delivers on the repeated lyric "make a hole, make a hole," with Mariam doing nothing but digging a hole for its nearly 8-minute-long runtime.

Mariam The Believer - "Somewhere Else"

A video from Mariam the Believer--you know, one half of Wildbirds and Peacedrums--for one of the tracks from her new solo record, Blood Donation.

The visuals remind me of a previously released W&P video, but the music is coming from a pretty different place. Under this new name, Mariam's songwriting comes off much more focused, accessible, and moody. Enjoy!

Mariam The Believer - "Invisible Giving"

Mariam The Believer is the musical pseudonym of singer-songwriter Mariam Wallentin. You might already know her for her vocal work in the incredibly percussive Wildbirds and Peacedrums. On a personal note, I've always enjoyed Mariam's soulful and emotive voice, but felt the music Wildbirds and Peacedrums put out only went so far with its emphasis on bare essentials.

However, the music coming from this new solo project of her's is surprisingly dark, atmospheric, and layered. I'm really enjoying what the track "Invisible Giving" delivers. It's a 7-minute mini-epic that moves through multiple phases. Of course, Mariam's voice is the star of this slightly lo-fi show, and it's very worthy of the pedestal. The vocals and winding guitar chord progressions here make for an intense listen that are making me want to repeat this song again and again just to soak in anything I might have missed.

The track "Invisible Giving" will be one of many featured on Mariam The Believer's debut solo LP, Blood Donation. The album is looking at an October 7th release on Moshi Moshi.
