Neon Indian- Era Extraña

Sad to say, I'm not big on this new Neon Indian album. I'd like to think that it's not because of the hype that was built around the project's last album, Psychic Chasms, but I'm afraid that might be a possibility. I don't think I was expecting the world of this album--especially since the last album didn't give me the world. To put it simply, I guess I was expecting something different. To me, this album feels like a serious and well-recorded version of Psychic Chasms.

With a plethora of reverb and dance music sounds from the Neon Indian-related sideproject Vega. sole member Alan Palomo is reliving past glories more than he is excelling into the future.

As much as I like Neon Indian's Psychic Chasms, I'm ready to start hearing some new output from the band's frontman Alan Palomo. I guess I'll just got listen to the album again. What other bands aren't putting out enough music? What bands are putting out too much music? Have you ever fallen out of a tree? -

PEPEPIANO- "NO WAY" ‡ STREAM

Between Baths, Teengirl Fantasy and the "Chillwave" movement, bedroom beat music has been getting a lot of positive press. It's not the most amazing music to walk the planet, but a lot of these solo and duo projects tend to have an eccentric edge, which makes them stand out for me. Maybe it's the isolation that comes with working in small numbers, and not having to sacrifice an artistic vision for the sake of another band member--don't mind me stipulating, though.

PEPEPIANO is certainly cut from this same cloth. "NO WAY," is the project's latest single, and features a slow tempo and dreamy, fuzzy sound quality. I was about to cast it off are messy until the track restrains itself at 1:53 with some haunting chords. Give a listen and let me know what you think:
