Political Animals - "Ultra Violence"

Videostheneedledrop1 Comment

New Haven rap outfit Political Animals has a new video for their song "Ultra Violence," and it is no less kinetic than the one they made for "Man the Mic" last October. Moreover, this new single is just as punchy as their last. "Ultra Violence" deviates in that it has a nocturnal aesthetic, but like "Man the Mic," it has a beefy-as-hell bass groove, powerful acoustic drumming and turntablism, and some in-your-face bars from MC Sotorios Fedeli. All these ingredients are working great together so far - hopefully a debut full-length isn't too far off.

The group put out this tape (When Animals Attack) in 2011 that you might want to check out if you've dug these two new singles.

Back in October, the New Haven hip hop group Political Animals dropped this rad music video for the single "Man the Mic." The track's beefy bass groove, booming acoustic drums, and deft turntablism will make you want to bust a move along with the video's breakdancers. And while not exactly enlightening, Sotorios Fedeli is a hell of an MC and lays down some hardhitting bars here. Enjoy!

Also, you can grab a copy of the single here.

Some heart-warming pop coming through on this new Plume Giant video for the track "We Got It Made," which was shot and directed in New Haven, Connecticut. The song's got a pretty joyous finish, and it's honeyed throughout with some tight vocal harmonies that bring some nice personality to the table.

Sidewalk Dave- "2k Girls"

"2k Girls" is the opening track to the latest album from Connecticut's own Sidewalk Dave. The New Haven singer-songwriter has greatly improved the presentation of his music on this latest collection of tracks with some heavier production, and a impressively skilled backing band. Dave, though, has remained the same; crooning his way through his romantic triumphs and failures.

With this particular track, Dave admits to being with about two-thousand girls; however, he doesn't sound that happy revealing this information. The emotional hardship ends up coming full circle when he paints himself as his "father's mistake." It seems Dave is just playing his part in a vicious cycle of bastardization.

The emotional potency of the song is brought even higher with falsetto background vocals soaring mournfully over some explosive guitars.

Dave's latest album can be streamed in full here. The title is Hard On Romance, and it can be procured via the Telegraph Recording Company.
