Wild Nothing- "Paradise"

Wild Nothing drops yet another track from it's forthcoming album, which will drop via Captured Tracks on August 28th. The title: Nocturne.

If the last track Wild Nothing dropped signified a crush on the 80s, "Paradise" is pure infatuation. The drum beat and synth sound a lot like something that would have backed a New Order track back in the day. The low-toned vocals are a nice touch as well. Not the best song I've heard these guys pull together, but it should hit the spot for those with new wave nostalgia.

Sun Airway- "Put the Days Away" ‡ VIDEO

I'm late, but thanks to one of my faithful Needle Drops, I'm on my way to the Sun Airway party. Their debut album, Nocturne of Exploded Crystal Chandelier, came out last week, and what I've heard so far is a winning combo of straightforward songwriting and treated electronics. Swirling samples and synths create a hurricane of sound that envelop the calm vocals of singer-songwriter Jon Barthmus. The video above is for one of the LP's lead tracks, "Put the Days Away."
