Mark Ronson's flat production doesn't do any favors for Villains, Queens of the Stone Age's most mixed bag of tracks to date.

Queens of the Stone Age - "The Way You Used to Do"
New Tracks3 CommentsQueens of the Stone Age's previous album, ...Like Clockwork, was one of the best rock albums the year it came out, and arguably the band's most downbeat and sobering release to date. But things are slated to take a poppy turn with the Mark Ronson-produced Villains, coming out August 25. I think he and QOTSA jell pretty well on this lead single, but you be the judge.
Queens of the Stone Age - "The Vampyre of Time and Memory"
Videos3 CommentsQueens of the Stone Age drop one of the more unsettling music videos of this year, featuring loads of stuffed animals, a toothed piano, and a vampire woman that's gonna be haunting your nightmares for the next several weeks. Props to directors Kii Arens and Jason Trucco.

"If I Had A Tail" is one of the heavier tracks to be released thus far, and it features a pretty bluesy guitar solo as well! Queens of the Stone Age - "I Appear Missing"
VideosCommentSome twisted visuals coming through on the new Queens of the Stone Age video for "I Appear Missing," which is a newly released track that's set to be released on the band's next album, ...Like Clockwork. Enjoy!
Queens of the Stone Age - "My God Is The Sun"
New Tracks5 CommentsQueens of the Stone Age finally drop a track from their forthcoming LP, ...Like Clockwork, and I have to say I'm pretty surprised. The intro of the track actually had me expecting something Mars Volta-esque, but once the verse kicks in, Josh Homme and company kick into gear with a blazing blend of hard rock and alternative rock backed with plenty of melodic guitar leads. Enjoy, and look for ...Like Clockwork on June 4th.
Arctic Monkeys- Suck It and See
Reviews3 CommentsOn Arctic Monkeys' latest album, the band drains themselves of adrenaline to play a set of songs that go back in time and try to revive a group of dated sounds. The guys play with sunshine pop, garage rock, and even some Queens of the Stone Age-esque riffage make it into the mix. But the problem is, the band's spin on these old school sounds isn't that interesting. For a fan, it may be interesting to see the group do something different, but as someone who isn't a diehard for this group, hearing the 'Monkeys do this isn't any more thrilling than hearing any other group do it.
There are a few tracks here that standout from a songwriting standpoint, but much of this record is about hearing the band play with a bunch of sounds they love, not develop something with a distinct style or personality.
Still, it's better than Beady Eye, I guess.
