Big Troubles- Romantic Comedy

Reviewsadmin10 Comments

Featuring a good friend of mine, Derek Ljongquist, this review is on the sophomore Big Troubles album, Romantic Comedy. It's out now on Slumberland Records and sounds like a well-produced and feel-good piece of throwback jangle pop. Stream or download the audio review below.

What do you think of this record? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should we take on next in these audio reviews that I hope to make weekly.

The band Big Troubles just dropped its sophomore album, Romantic Comedy, via Slumberland this month, and "Sad Girls" is the track embedded above.

This song is a light, jangly pop rock tune that sounds like it might have gotten some radio play on college stations in the 90s. The vocals even remind me of Billy Corgan a little bit.

Even though the instrumentation sounds pretty free and easy, the emotions are a bit darker. The lyrics tell a story of the singer being so sick of love, he doesn't want to hear about it anymore. If I'm hearing correctly, it's to the point where he'd just rather put a hole in his head than hear about it anymore. That's certainly an alternative.
