New Tracks1 CommentShabazz Palaces has made the latest contribution to Adult Swim's singles program. One of its eeriest tracks yet!
THEESatisfaction - "Recognition"
UncategorizedCommentFeel free to add this to your growing list of music to look forward to in 2015: Alternative hip hop and R&B duo THEESatisfaction have a new album on the way titled EarthEE. Like their last LP, awE naturalE, this record will be released via Sub Pop Records, and will most likely feature the kind of intergalactic soul featured on the track embedded above, "Recognition"
The panoramic rhythms, chants, and deep space synths on this cut are alluring and intoxicating. Despite the gentle demeanor of the music here, it's hard not to get whipped up in the song's ecstasy. Stasia Irons and Catherine Harris-White seem are sounding more ambitious here, and seem to be creating music for another dimension entirely.
Of course, it's not surprising to hear the vocals of Palaceer Lazaro hanging in the background as well, and I'm looking forward to any other appearances he might mack on this forthcoming record, too.
Look for EarthEE on February 24th.
Shabazz Palaces - Lese Majesty
ReviewsCommentWith more motifs and musical dead-ends than legitimate songs, the new Shabazz Palaces album is suffocated with a surprising amount of filler.
Shabazz Palaces - "Forerunner Foray"
New TracksCommentNEW SHABAZZ PALACES! The previously loved Seattle hip hop project has released another track from its forthcoming record, Lese Majesty. Just like their last LP, this one is looking at a release via Sub Pop Records. The date: July 29th.
"Forerunner Foray" is equal parts hip hop and electronic psychedelia. Fluttering synth sequences, spacey rhythms, and a plethora of effects make up the sonic pallet of this instrumental. There are even some short vocal interludes that sound like they're being handled by someone in THEESatisfaction.
A lot of Ishmael Butler's lyrics come off confident and brag-laden, but any grander meaning is eluding me at the moment. Regardless, another interesting tidbit from this forthcoming record.
Shabazz Palaces - "#CAKE"
New TracksCommentWinding, twisted, and psychedelic is the new Shabazz Palaces song, "#CAKE." It's a cut off the experimental hip hop project's forthcoming album, Lese Majesty, which is looking at a July 29th release on Sub Pop Records. Enjoy!!!
