Sleeping Bag- "Walk Home"

[audio:http://www.joyfulnoiserecordings.com/mp3/jnr107.mp3] Nothing brightens up a song like a whistle, eh? That seems to be the theory on this new track from Sleeping back, "Walk Home," which comes from the garage rock band's sophomore album on Joyful Noise recordings, Women Of Your Life.

What's funny about the track is that it features entirely wordless verses, allowing the harmonized whistles to really take over and bring more positive vibes than I think 8 or 16 lines of lyrics could conjure. The choruses do feature some group vocals, though, and they're catchy as hell! Can't deny the blissful attitude that comes so naturally to these guys. Give a listen, get chill.

A new video for "Slime," which comes off of Sleeping Bag's new debut album via Joyful Noise. I wasn't down with the entire LP, but I'm very in love with this song--not to mention the video that's now been attached to it.

In this music video, we see Sleeping Bag performing the track in various situations that would look normal if it weren't for these three Midwest garage rockers playing in the middle of them. Fun song, hilarious concept, and a band who doesn't take themselves too seriously.

Indiana’s Sleeping Bag will release its self-titled debut in August via Joyful Noise. The true simplicity of this trio is defined by their stripped down melodies, laid back vocals, jagged guitars, and kick-snare beats.

The track "Ben" frames a picture that reflects good times of days past, but asks serious questions about religion and life at the same time. This gentle garage rock approach is the perfect combination of closet pop and the warmth of the sun. So, rest easy, and take comfort here.

This live session of the band performing "Ben" doesn't come with much information for views--it actually has 160 views as I'm writing this. But the cheesy smiles and the D.I.Y. set design are just too fun not to share.

Idiana's Sleeping Bag is gearing up to drop its first LP in August. In the meantime, the band has dropped two tracks, and "Ben" is one of them. Here, the band shoots for a tight and close sound that gets in the listener's face, but still executes the music at a gentle volume. It's a bit of a mess, but the melodies and heart fueling this tune are sincere. It's not a mind-blower, but definitely as pleasing as a hug; and only a fool would turn one of those down.

What do you think of this track? Did you love it? Did you hate it? Why? If you were in a band, would you record your songs in a closet? Would you use a ton of reverb? Write lyrics dealing with religion?

Sleeping Bag- "Slime"

Despite a somewhat sloppy presentation, the songwriting and melodies behind Sleeping Bag's debut LP are sturdy enough to withstand hurricane-force winds.

On "Slime," the drums set a steady pace against a deadpan vocal and downstroke'd guitar. The verses sound almost sleepy, but the choruses burst with a little volume that I think any Weezer fan will appreciate. The track seamlessly shifts into an impressive bridge as well.

The Indiana trio is dropping the album on August 9th, and feel free to sample another track from it on Bandcamp.
