Up-and-coming pop trio Haim has turned just about every head you'd want to in the blog-o-sphere with their hooky, layered, well-written pop songs that subtly reference everything from new wave to Michael Jackson.
The band just dropped a new single with "The Wire," and it's got to be one of the stand-out pop tunes of this year. The smooth lead vocals on the first verse; layered guitar phrasing as the song builds at the 0:43 mark; and the jubilant ending all remind me of a time when the game of chart-topping songwriting was, well, a bit classier.
