Doja Cat has some choice words for Tyga following the rapper's admission that he used artificial intelligence to help create his latest album.

During a recent Twitch livestream, the "Jealous Type" performer brought up her fellow rapper without any apparent prompting, telling viewers: "Nobody asked me anything about Tyga, but I just felt like saying this. Tyga is a penis for making an AI album."

The comment was aimed at Tyga's latest project, Starface, which arrived at the end of July under the rapper's new moniker of the same name. The album represents a stylistic left turn for Tyga, trading his usual hip-hop sound for a palette heavily influenced by '80's synth music.

Tyga later confirmed to Vibe that AI played a role in making the record. “We definitely used AI as a [tool on the album]. And I know people are going to be mad about me saying this, but it’s where technology is going.”

He compared the use of AI to the backlash surrounding Auto-Tune when the technology first became popular. “It’s no different than when autotune came out. Some people were opposed to it, but real artists took it and used it.”

“We were like, ‘You know what? I need some ‘80 synths for a certain part of this song. I need a guitar solo done ASAP’. It is what it is,” Tyga explained, while maintaining that all of the vocals on Starface were performed by him.

Doja Cat is not the only major artist to voice concerns about the technology. AI has become the industry's biggest flashpoint, with artists including Madonna, Beyoncé and Ariana Grande speaking publicly about its growing presence.

The debate has extended well beyond music, too. AI was a major sticking point during the 2023 Hollywood strikes, as actors and writers pushed for protections against the technology’s potential impact on creative work.
