The genre-defying Big Ears festival, brimming with classical artists, singer-songwriters, and electronic pioneers, will return to churches, warehouses, rock clubs, and other historic spaces in downtown Knoxville from April 1 to 4, 2027, for its 14th year. Historically, its lineup has included big-name indie acts, fine art virtuosos, and electronic luminaries, as well as film screenings, workshops, exhibitions, and installations across creative disciplines.

Standouts from this year’s kaleidoscopic lineup include Wednesday, Oneohtrix Point Never, and Wilco’s legendary frontman, Jeff Tweedy. Norah Jones, Nathaniel Rateliff, Gillian Welch, and David Rawlings will participate in ticketed performances with reserved seating. Evan Ziporyn and Maya Beiser will join the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra for a rendition of David Bowie's final album, Blackstar. Lastly, scholar and electric bassist Melvin Gibbs will curate How Black Music Took Over the World, which celebrates Gullah Geechee traditions from the Georgia Sea Islands and South Carolina’s Lowcountry, and will feature a performance by Charleston’s Ranky Tanky.
