On Tuesday, September 22, Cameron Winter performed a surprise solo set in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans, at BJ's Lounge.

The Geese frontman surprised patrons at the bar's weekly open mic night. Winter sat front and center at the piano bar and crooned a couple of songs from his debut, Heavy Metal, including an acoustic rendition of "Love Takes Miles." According to online blogger Ock Sportello, Winter kindly requested that no one record videos of any of the new material that he performed. He even joked that, "If you see a person with a phone, run them out of town."

This set comes less than two weeks after Winter announced that he's been working on a follow-up to Heavy Metal. Still, in his recent interview with Rolling Stone, he claimed that no one he has shown his new music to has really enjoyed it, though it seems that the reaction to his set at BJ's Lounge was quite the opposite. Perhaps a new Cameron Winter solo project might be arriving far sooner than we think.

In a few weeks, on October 9, Winter will be releasing his Live at Carnegie Hall performance, a little over a month before the debut of his concert film with Paul Thomas Anderson, Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall. The film will tour around the United States and be screened this fall on 35mm.
