CHVRCHES announce new album ‘All The King's Men’ and 2027 tour

CHVRCHES have just announced their fifth album, All The King’s Men, due out January 22, 2027 via Futures Music Group, and it’s their first in almost six years.

The album was previewed last month with the single “Roses,” check it out here:

Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty took a break in 2023 after touring 2021’s Screen Violence, and agreed that their next album had to challenge and excite them. Unlike the remote approach they took on Screen Violence, they made All The King’s Men in person in Glasgow over multiple three-week stints.

Reportedly, each member took in different influences during their break. Doherty, who frequently traveled back to Scotland to see his mother, reconnected with British films by directors Shane Meadows and Ken Loach, and also reconnected with artists including Massive Attack, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and PJ Harvey as well. Mayberry spent the time developing as a lyricist and looking to showcase her storytelling and vocal range. And Cook, who still lives in the band’s Scotland base, began writing with acoustic instruments and listening to Nick Drake, Bert Jansch, and Incredible String Band.

The band describes “Roses” as social commentary about the darker side of Britain, and for the new record they say they have connected with the UK’s history as “old and real,” even when it’s ugly.

CHVRCHES play two intimate benefit shows next week, in their hometown of Glasgow on October 26 and in London on October 29, with proceeds going to charity. Both sold out immediately.

The band will also tour North America, the UK, and Ireland in 2027, starting February 13 in Philadelphia. Presale begins October 27 at 10am local time in North America and October 28 at 10am local time in the UK and Ireland, with general sale on October 30 at 10am local time.
