In a press conference held on Monday morning in Los Angeles, District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced three charges against singer-songwriter D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, related to the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Alongside being charged with first-degree murder, the singer is charged with special circumstances of murder for 'financial gain' with Hochmann accusing D4vd of murdering Hernandez to protect his career, claiming that "Celeste was threatening on that particular night."
The singer is also charged with murdering a witness to an investigation, as Hernandez was a witness into an investigation of sexual acts committed by D4vd whilst she was under the age of 14.
If convicted, he could face the death penalty.

Hernandez's body was found in a Tesla registered to Burke last September, and he was arrested in connection with the death four days ago. She had been missing since pril 2025 when she went to visit the singer's house in the Hollywood Hills. Hochmann described the murder as "brutal", "horrific", and a "parent's nightmare."
Responding to criticism over the pace of the seven-month investigation, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell told reporters that the delay between Hernandez's death and the discovery of her body meant that evidence had disappeared and decayed.
District Attorney Hochman concluded the conference by asking anyone with information surrounding the case to come forward.
