This refund infrastructure comes in the wake of R&B singer D4vd's arrest and subsequent murder charge. The murder charge is in relation to the death of 15 year-old Celeste Rivas, who was found in the "Romantic Homocide" singer's Tesla last September.
In the statement, the X account @FortniteStatus explained the following:
"We hear the concerns. We have a bunch of changes we’re rolling out over time. The first one will be available on Tuesday April 28th, when anyone who purchased one of these items will be able to get an immediate self-service refund. And, right now, players who request refunds for D4vd cosmetics via player support can be refunded."
It is currently unclear whether or not Fortnite will be removing the items (which include the above locker bundle, a dance emote, and two jam tracks) from the game outright, but the refunds could imply those actions may be taken in the future.
