Iceage share new single "The Weak"

Today, Iceage share the third single off their upcoming record, For Love of Grace & the Hereafter, out May 29 via Mexican Summer. "The Weak," a pop punk track that pivots the record in a grittier direction, is out now.

The new single comes with a lyric video compiling video and photo footage of the band, taken by Anna Dobos and Ira Rønnenfelt. Watch/listen to "The Weak" below:

Flutes, whistles, rolling drums, and a rapid-fire electric guitar slide adorn this new track that's even more propulsive than its predecessors. Like "Star" and "Ember," "The Weak" prefers straightforward, immediate language and sound, constructing music that aims to capture the intensity of love and creativity.

Contrasting its buoyant composition, however, this single takes on a more disenchanted tone. "Life is for the weak," vocalist and front man Elias Rønnenfelt blurts in rhythm with the guitar, punctuating every remark about a decaying city spiraling into war crimes, debt, and malaise. "Stripped for all you’re worth," he continues in the hook, "Now standing cracked and incomplete / Life is for the weak."

For Love of Grace & the Hereafter is out May 29 via Mexican Summer. Pre-order here.
