Pink Floyd announce 50th anniversary reissue of 'Animals'

January 2027 will see the release of Animals 50 to mark the half-century birthday of 1977 Pink Floyd record Animals. Floyd fans will enjoy a selection of unheard material, including a Roger Waters solo cut from the era called "Young Nicholas Jon." "Sheep (Original Radio Edit)" is out now, and you can listen below.

Along with the original tracklist and its 2018 remix, Animals 50 presents a bootleg recording of a 1977 show played at Oakland Coliseum Arena, as well as the aforementioned music dusted off from the archives. A book – practically a given with a deluxe reissue – of 64 pages will accompany the tunes, featuring unseen imagery and various writings. Guitarist David Gilmour, reflecting on the material, noted that "it's quite an aggressive, stripped-back album. It was moving away from the sort of soundscapes that we had on Wish You Were Here. This album is more in your face and more rough and ready."

Wish You Were Here received the 50th anniversary treatment last year. Preorder Animals 50 here and, presumably, look out for The Wall 50 in 2029.
