Shearwater announce new record 'The New World'

Indie folk rock band Shearwater are back this summer with a new record. The New World, out July 31 via their own label Polyborus, is their tenth album, and follows up 2022's The Great Awakening.

Listen to two new songs – "Daydream Unbeliever" and "More and More" – now:

The band's lead singer, songwriter, and ornithologist Jonathan Meiburg describes the songs as such:

"If you’re like us, you wake up feeling like the world’s on fire, and hoping you could reckon with it if you knew where to begin. ‘Daydream Unbeliever’ and ‘More and More’ come from this uneasy place. If they help you feel a little less insane, welcome home.”

The new album features contributions from an array of guests, including Xiu Xiu's Jamie Stewart, multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily, and drummer Thor Harris (who was a member of the band from 2001-2010), in addition to Meiburg's bandmates Emily Lee, and Dan Duszynski.

The New World is out July 31. Pre-order here. Full tracklist:
