Indie pop-rockers Shout Out Louds have returned with their first new music in five years. "Closer," which is out now with a Ted Malmros-directed video, is the first taste of the band's next record, which is due out sometime next year.

Check it out here:

Malmros, who is also the band's bassist, says of the clip:

"We wanted to create a grand yet meditative experience as we follow a woman who has left everything behind to live a new, minimalist life. As viewers, we become her secret companions. The camera watches over her at a distance as she moves through a world of contrasts, from high mountains, beaches, and oceans to the emptiness of abandoned gas stations and vast public squares. It is a visual meditation on freedom, solitude, and the places we seek out when we strip away all the noise."

Lead singer and guitarist Adam Olenius describes the new song as "about heartbreak on a level where you want to escape real life… both geographically and spiritually. How isolation and cutting off the world outside could get you back on track."

Shout Out Louds haven't released new music since 2022's House. In 2024 and 2025, they spent time on the road in Europe celebrating the 20th anniversary of their beloved debut LP, Howl Howl Gaff Gaff.

The quartet is currently planning to go back out on the road in Europe (mostly through Scandinavia) next spring. Find those dates down below.
