Taylor Swift has enlisted Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson for the next act of her The Life of a Showgirl era.

On Thursday, Swift shared a 13-second preview of the music video for “Patient Zero,” her new single arriving tomorrow. The full video will premiere Sunday during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, airing on CBS and MTV and streaming on Paramount+ Premium in the U.S.

The brief teaser does not offer much explanation for what Farrell and Johnson are doing in Swift’s latest visual world. Swift directed the video, while three-time Academy Award-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, whose credits include Gravity, Birdman, and The Revenant, handled cinematography.

“Patient Zero” leads the four new songs arriving on The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, an expanded edition of Swift’s 2025 album due September 25. “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding,” and “Babylon” round out the new material.

Swift said the songs came together after she traveled to Sweden to celebrate The Life of a Showgirl with collaborators Max Martin and Shellback following the album’s record-breaking opening week. The trip eventually put the trio back in a studio, where they wrote the additional tracks.

Sunday’s premiere also gives Swift another reason to tune into this year’s VMAs. She will receive the ceremony’s inaugural Artist Director Honors award and enters the show with 11 nominations.

Snoop Dogg will host the VMAs, which begin Sunday at 7:30pm ET.
