The Beach Boys were supposed to end a two-month touring hiatus Thursday. Instead, their return has been pushed back again.

Four concerts scheduled between September 24 and September 27 in West Springfield, Massachusetts; Quakertown, Pennsylvania; and North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina have been canceled. No reason has been publicly announced by the band.

The Univest Performance Center in Pennsylvania and Alabama Theatre in South Carolina attributed their cancellations to circumstances outside the venues’ control. The Beach Boys’ next scheduled performance is currently October 9 at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, Illinois.

The Boys were meant to restart a touring year that has repeatedly been interrupted. In July, they postponed or canceled nearly 30 concerts originally scheduled between July 23 and September 3. Mike Love, the only original member currently touring under the Beach Boys name, said at the time that the group needed a “short break to recharge.” The September 24 concert was subsequently positioned as their return date.

The current run commemorates the 60th anniversary of the band’s 1966 album Pet Sounds, while also continuing their long-running Endless Summer Gold Tour. Several summer dates displaced by the hiatus were moved into October, November, and 2027.

The pause followed a difficult stretch for Love, who is 85. Earlier this year, concerts were canceled while he dealt with an unspecified illness. Love later said he had been recovering from bronchitis and COVID-19 while grieving the death of his sister Maureen.

The Beach Boys have also undergone major changes away from the road. Co-founder Brian Wilson died in June 2025 at 82, and longtime member Bruce Johnston departed the touring group earlier this year. Fellow co-founder Al Jardine has continued performing separately with his Pet Sounds Band.

The band has remained active on record as well. This year brought the long-awaited official release of Adult/Child, the previously shelved experimental album recorded in the 1970s.

For now, the October 9 Bloomington concert remains the next date on the Beach Boys’ schedule.
