Hey, Anthony. Show me some Fall albums!
It's the season! Let's go! I feel like White Light from the Mouth of Infinity is maybe, besides The Burning World, the go-to fall Swans album. It's the one that is the most kind of acoustic and folksy, but still kind of has that heavy transcendental feel you want out of a Swans record.
Also, of course, Indie Folk Classic, The Glow Pt. 2, The Microphones. I mean, that's very fall-coded, at least for me.
I feel like Nico's Chelsea Girl brings really big fall vibes. Kind of the sad, kind of forlorn acoustics and songwriting on this one that brings a big kind of changing of the season's energy.
I think there's also a crispness, a briskness to the sound of this Grey Area album from Little Simz. It's just got this very sort of stark contrast, gritty sound to it that I feel like makes it a bit of an appropriate fall hip-hop record.
I mean, obviously, the Modern Lovers debut, you don't get big fall vibes from classics like "Roadrunner," but I feel like you do from "Hospital," from "Astral Plane," from "Pablo Picasso." There's something kind of eerie and weird and surreal about some of the writing on those tracks. It just feels a little Fall to me.
I feel like we're getting some very intimate fall vibes from the Live at Carnegie Hall Cameron Winter album.
Then I would say if you're getting kind of that moody fall vibe going, you want to listen to some Spiderland as well from Slint. So yeah, that's kind of a less cozy and more sad fall, but still, fall all the same.
What do you think?
