Chappell literally didn't do anything.....

So it now turns out the Brazilian football player who got Chappell Roan in hot water, alleging that she directed a security guard to yell at his daughter with his wife right there... yeah, he is apologizing publicly and taking it all back.

Too little, too late, man.

After 2 straight weeks of one of the most insane hate campaigns we've seen in music this year, and starting off this firestorm with this bullshit story in the first place, this dude is telling us that none of it's real. None of it's true.

And of course, the apology and the correction is only garnering not even a fraction of the views that all the headlines did, all the viral tweets did, all the accusations did that Chappell hates children and is evil and is the worst person on the planet. And even though it's mostly over at this point, I myself am still flabbergasted at how ridiculous and over the top and outsized the reaction was. Like, what the hell even was all of that?

Because the more I think about it, the less it made sense even in the moment, because it's not like we had video proof of this interaction. It's not like there were multiple witnesses attesting to this going down in the way that it was originally described. It was just a nonstop tidal wave of BS for clicks, for money, and for hatred of a pop star just because.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, but it's crazy how differently cancellations cut between male and female stars, because right now you have bands that have just played Coachella without even a hint of controversy, fresh off of attacking Redditors, trying to unmask them for criticizing you. Meanwhile, Chappell Roan is facing a weeks-long hate campaign over a thing she did not even do.

What do you think?
