Hi everyone, Anthony Fantano here, internet's busiest music nerd. Hope you're doing well.
And today we have to take a minute to talk about one of the biggest losers in the music industry still, the one and only Mr. Falling In Reverse himself, Ronald Radke. Now for those of you who are watching and have lives and also have taste, you may not know who Ronnie Radke is or maybe you've heard his name just like in passing because of various headlines and articles about him that have surfaced over the years. And look, if you're out of the know, I don't blame you. These days, I try to stay as far away from Mr. Radke myself as possible.
After all, he doesn't make very good music. He is completely obnoxious, self-absorbed, and grating to listen to. And the last time I tried to say anything about Ronald, unprompted, out of the blue, I got a big fat lawsuit thrown into my lap. Oh my God.
Long story short, I filed a counterclaim against that suit. And I won. And Ronald had to pay me. But even though I came out of that whole situation victorious and with tens of thousands of dollars from Ronald Radke in my own pocket, thank you again, Ronald.
Appreciate you being quick with the payment. The whole thing was still a really traumatic experience for me that I would like to avoid. But the ridiculousness of Mr. Radke is once again becoming difficult to ignore.
And believe me, there have been things I've been turning a blind eye to because I just feel like it would be too annoying to comment on. Like, for example, the weird back and forth he had going for months and months with comedian Brittany Furlan. And then there's also the matter of Ronald recently taking to the time-honored tradition of internet gambling streams. Something we know all of the great, creative, amazing minds in the music industry involve themselves in.
Pushing your fanbase into the online gambling world as a form of cheap-ass entertainment.
Are these streams even officially sponsored or is he just like doing this shit for the love of the game?
Let's see if we can fucking somehow fucking change this around, bro. I can't believe this. No way, bro. Fucking so- I'm getting so fucking fed up with this shit, bro. This shit fucking annoys the fuck out of me, bro. Come on. Fucking seriously, bro.
My life is like a gambling stream. Fighting hard to get the slots.
Yeah.
But as silly as all of that stuff is, that is not what ultimately made me decide to do this video that you're watching right now. No, it's actually some goings on over on the Falling In Reverse subreddit. Something that really kind of shows you Ronnie's self-absorption reaching its final stages. Not only is he unable to handle criticism from shit, his haters, from critics, from his own collaborators, bandmates, partners.
No, now he is turning against his own fans as he recently announced a hostile takeover of the Falling In Reverse subreddit.
Good afternoon, good evening, and good morning to some of you guys. If you're seeing this right now, you're a fucking Reddit guy. And I'm just here to let you guys know that Ronnie's home.
I really have to admire the energy that Ronnie is going into this announcement with. He's like addressing his Reddit community as if he's like some Dr. Evil type motherfucker. Like he's "Gotcha now! Didn't suspect this did ya?" Like he really needs to be petting a cat in his lap and being like, "You guys have T-minus 15 seconds before this subreddit explodes."
I have full control of my Reddit now. And I just want to leave this message with all of you guys here. You're a bunch of fucking losers, most of you. You're disgusting, liars, problematic pieces of shit.
I love how Ronnie cares when people are being problematic, very selectively. When it's Ronnie who's actually being problematic, not an issue, not a problemo. You're overreacting, you're making things up, but the people who are on his subreddit, they're being way too problematic.
Years and years of fucking disgusting behavior, parasocial bullshit, stalking, making up stories about me, being so obsessed with someone you hate so much and talk so much shit.
I want to try to sympathize with Ronnie here. I have my own subreddit as well, where yes, I am a moderator, but I haven't really involved myself in any mod type activities unless there is like personal information of mine getting posted over there. Stuff like that. And I sort of get and I understand that concern.
Because yeah, on the Internet, sometimes people do cross a line and are doing way too fucking much. And parasocial behavior these days is abound in every pocket of the Internet. But simultaneously, and you know, I do admit I have casually sauntered over to the Falling In Reverse subreddit every once in a while to just kind of see how things are doing over there.
Most of the time, I see a lot of love for Ronald on the subreddit. Either that or a skeptical, cautious concern where maybe some of his most hardcore fans in these private spaces are willing to admit that there are moments where his behavior or his comments kind of suck or go too far, but they still like him and like his music. They just wish that he would do better. So the idea that the bulk of the discourse on this sub is like based around harassing Ronald and doxing Ronald and like trying to throw his personal information out there or something is just kind of crazy.
I think it speaks to a certain level of paranoia. And honestly, if he is genuinely concerned with the parasocial tendencies of his audience, isn't this sort of message only going to make that worse and create this in-group out-group sense among his followers that there are some people who are actually devoted to him, actually supporting him, actually care about him, actually knowledgeable of the truth of Ronald Radke. Meanwhile, everybody else who like isn't fully a true believer, a true believer and a true devotee, they're kind of kicked out because they're the ones who are lying and are twisted and are toxic and are terrible and are awful. Like all you're going to do is take those people who are willing to walk the line for you and make them that much more obsessed.
Leaking stuff, saying stuff about my child, saying stuff about my girlfriend, when most of you are probably fucking fat and ugly.
Again, it's so funny because like Ronnie Radke and Falling In Reverse, as big and as popular as they are in some circles, they're really only the kind of band that you hear about if you're into them and you're seeking that sort of thing out. And even many of the casual fans of the band are not fully aware of Ronnie's social media where they're kind of like, following every ridiculous thing he's saying and every beef that he has. In fact, there were a lot of people in his audience who didn't even know who I was when he filed the lawsuit against me.
And when he made a subsequent video about the lawsuit too. So I mean, the idea that a subreddit for a band like Falling In Reverse, which has a pretty insular fan base, is mostly just fat and ugly, according to Ronald, I mean, man, you're just attacking your fans, dude. These are people who are in this community because at one point, at least, I imagine they liked you.
I'm here to tell you today that I'm literally in charge of this Reddit and I'm going to fuck you guys up. Have a wonderful life.
What? He's gonna fuck his subredditors up? What is going on? As of right now, you can see the effects of the iron fist of Ronald's moderation.
Because even under this very post, there are many deleted comments. Clearly, Ronald or somebody working on his behalf is taking great joy and sort of silencing the haters. And in addition to this, Ronnie himself, under the name Ronnie, Ronnieishome, posted a comment too, promising even to dox some of the people who are hating on him on this subreddit saying, "Full pictures of their faces [and] what they do for a living, everything. You think you can hide behind a Reddit account, Anon, until all your messages for the last six years show up in your bosses inbox at work?"
Ronnie is gonna find where you work and email your boss. Imagine getting fired at work over Falling In Reverse. Which for a guy who's supposed to be, a guy who's supposed to be nominally against cancel culture or whatever he thinks cancel culture is, is kind of crazy.
To be honest, this announcement and what he's attempting here is really only gonna lead to two things. One, it's going to turn Ronald into a Reddit guy because now he's gonna be spending hours on Reddit looking at the comments on his subreddit. So, whatever he thinks a Reddit guy is, he will slowly over time become that. And the second thing that is or could happen, and this is really connected to the first thing: is this post not just an open invitation to waste Ronald's time?
I'm not advocating anybody do anything bad or post anything super offensive or salacious or mean-spirited on Ronald's subreddit here. But if for entertainment you wanted to, let's say, get Ronald's goat, I imagine one would only need to post just their honest opinion of stuff that Ronald has done or has been posted about him in the public eye on there and just have genuine, honest conversations about how weird he is.
And that would be enough to get him freaking out and posting videos and deleting comments and screaming and yelling and pissing his pants. And given, the likelihood that just about anybody is willing to troll anybody on the internet, is this not just telling everybody, yes, I am Ronald Radke, a famous rock star, and I will be spending my days getting pissed off and deleting everything that you guys post that's negative about me on this subreddit now? Instead of, I don't know, doing fun stuff, or going outside or writing songs.
Maybe Ronald can write a song about his subreddit. But yeah, cool stuff from Mr. Ronald Radke. Always a special little guy. And I'm not sure if I have anything else to add to this video.
Good luck, Ronald, on your new job as head moderator of the Falling In Reverse subreddit. I hope it pays in mental health dividends. Congrats on becoming a Reddit guy, and let's try to avoid any new restraining orders. That would probably be best.
What do you think?
