On this new track, "Half-Hearted Love," Clare Maguire sounds wise beyond her 26 years. She sings in a fairly low, commanding register, and her voice has a quivery vibrato akin to a less unhinged Beth Gibbons or Fiona Apple. It is her best tool, and it's the biggest reason why this fairly straightforward 60s-esque pop song is not simply a forgettable tune.
