Tape Loop Orchestra- "I Died When She Left Me"

New Tracksadmin1 Comment

A new track from the ambient project Tape Loop Orchestra titled "I Died When She Left Me." It's from the newly released album In A Lonely Place.

The song is a pretty haunting combination of strings and what feels like field recordings. There's a strong sense of sorrow coming out of these aged tones, crying out quietly with no real beginning or end.

Download This Free Arsis EP

Download: Arsis- Lepers Caress Arsis are the next artists in line to have Scion put out another free EP for streaming and downloading. Scion has already put out some stellar stuff in recent years, ranging from Magrudergrind to Immolation. With Lepers Caress, we just might have one of the best releases of the bunch. Virginia melodic, technical death metallers Arsis return to form with a much less glam-influenced sound than their previous LP. Throw in your textbook fretboard-wizardry from mastermind James Malone as well as a redone version of one of the band's first--and most underrated--songs, "Veil of Mourning Black," and you have the makings of one hell of a 19-minute listen. Hell, it's free! Why would you not check this out?!

Thanks, Kit!

Sleeping Bag- "Walk Home"

[audio:http://www.joyfulnoiserecordings.com/mp3/jnr107.mp3] Nothing brightens up a song like a whistle, eh? That seems to be the theory on this new track from Sleeping back, "Walk Home," which comes from the garage rock band's sophomore album on Joyful Noise recordings, Women Of Your Life.

What's funny about the track is that it features entirely wordless verses, allowing the harmonized whistles to really take over and bring more positive vibes than I think 8 or 16 lines of lyrics could conjure. The choruses do feature some group vocals, though, and they're catchy as hell! Can't deny the blissful attitude that comes so naturally to these guys. Give a listen, get chill.

Venowl- "Gnawed Gristle and Bone"

Despite extreme metal's noisy nature, there's a surprising lack of artists making it who openly embrace noise as a compositional tool. If anything, noise is simply just a by-product of making such uncompromising music.

However, that's not the case with Venowl. The project's music isn't complete noise, but it is a focus on this new, 22-minute track titled "Gnawed Gristle and Bone." Not only does the track show off some clear sludge and doom metal influences, but walls of distortion, feedback, and blood-curdling shrieks are key ingredients as well. It should be no surprise that Mories of Gnaw Their Tongues mastered this thing. Give a listen, get shocked.

Hilang Child- First Writings

New Tracksadmin1 Comment

Hilang Child's First Writings EP is a collection of wintery and emotive ballads that have a Fleet Foxes-like appreciation for dynamics and vocal harmonies. Though the inspiration is very obvious, it doesn't stop songs like the opening track from being incredibly moving with its ascending voices, cymbal swells, and string arrangements. Give a listen, get carried away.
